Peabody's newest calendar. (Peabody Municipal Light )

PMLPs 14th annual historical calendar now available

December 2, 2025 by Chris Carrigan Brolly

The 2026 Peabody Municipal Light Plant historical calendar was released last week, featuring photographs of Peabody and Lynnfield. The calendars are free, and available for pickup at a number of locations around Peabody and Lynnfield.

The Peabody’s Hose Company #3, current home of the Peabody Firehouse Museum, features as the September picture this year, alongside the Bowditch School, Eliza Sutton’s estate, the L.B. Southwick Company Tannery, and the Dairy Queen in Lynnfield.

Of course, the calendar also features energy-saving tips, advice about purchasing efficient appliances, and other ways to save both electricity and money this coming year, as energy costs continue to rise across the U.S.

Should anyone desire a look at prior years’ calendars, Maihos mentioned that he does have an archive of them. He said that while he can’t give out the PMLP’s archived copies, he would be happy to provide scans upon request, and he expressed a desire to have them available somewhere online eventually.

The PMLP’s John Maihos, director of human resources and community relations thanked the organizations that provided the photographs used in this year’s calendar, which are listed by the PLMP in their calendar announcement: the Peabody Historical Society and Museum, the Lynnfield Historical Commission, the Lynnfield Historical Society, the Wakefield Item, and JC Marketing Associates of Wakefield.

Maihos said that the calendar is quite popular not just for its historical content but as a place to write reminders, even now in the age of digital calendars and cloud notification. He said “the people like the large boxes for notes, especially among our older population.” He added “We start getting requests for them by June or July!” he added.

While supplies last the calendar’s are available not only at the PMLP’s main office off the Warren Street Extension in Peabody, but also from all branches of the Peabody Institute Library, Peabody City Hall, Lynnfield Town Hall, the Lynnfield Public Library, Energy Credit Union, and many local banks.
