The Lynnfield Art Guild is pleased to announce that member Elise MacDonald, painter and photographer, will be featured at the Lynnfield Art Guild’s 2025 “Meet the Artist” series in collaboration with the Lynnfield Public Library on Wednesday, April 23 from 6 – 7 p.m. in the Mezzanine.
Elise MacDonald will present her “Journey Through Art, Creativity, and Nature.”
Her passion for art began in high school through an independent study of Matisse. During her senior year, she led an after-school art club, inspiring students to explore their creativity. Although she pursued zoology at the University of Rhode Island, an art history class rekindled her love for art. Years later, while substituting art classes, MacDonald rediscovered her artistic abilities and studied graphic design at the New England Institute of Art, mastering drawing, photography, and acrylic painting.
MacDonald’s acrylic painting style evolved from bold and primitive to a loose, impressionistic approach influenced by Monet and Van Gogh. Her photography also transformed — from capturing family events with a Minolta rangefinder to photographing wildlife and landscapes with a Canon D80. Favorite shooting locations include Plum Island, Exeter, New Hampshire, and Horn Pond in Woburn. MacDonald finds art and photography to be therapeutic and empowering, offering opportunities to explore nature and share its beauty.
Join us at the Lynnfield Library on April 23 for an inspiring evening and connect with MacDonald’s work while enjoying light refreshments. This monthly joint program is also an opportunity to learn about the Lynnfield Art Guild, the area’s premier arts organization. Pre-registration through the library’s website is requested but not required at www.lynnfieldlibrary.org.
