The Lynnfield Art Guild (LAG) is presenting a Fabric Art Demonstration by Beverly Cook Thursday, March 27th at 7 p.m., in person at the Al Merritt Center at 600 Market St. To see Beverly’s beautiful creations, please go to the Lynnfield Art Guild website at: lynnfieldarts.org/beverly-cook/.
Cook will demo her quilt-like process, which includes the use of fabric, embroidery threads, sometimes dryer sheets (clouds) or other household finds. Batik fabric is a favorite, as it lends nicely to this technique having shading and variations that give a painterly look and value. Rarely is paint used, but not completely disregarded as it can add a dramatic touch where threadwork would be exceedingly difficult.
When not painting, quilting, or interacting with her five grandchildren, Beverly is a docent at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, an active member of Top of the Hill Gang and an avid world traveler, which is reflected in several of her paintings. For information and pricing on any works or commissions, email beverlycookjp@gmail.com.
This demonstration is open to all members via invitation; prospective members are encouraged to join the Guild at lynnfieldarts.org to take advantage of this and upcoming special artistic opportunities, including free attendance at all live and virtual demonstrations and the ability to display art, network with other artists and show pieces in our popular exhibits.
Art in Bloom will be on display at the Lynnfield Library from April 14th to the 17th. Also, save the date for the Spring Festival and Judged Art Show on Saturday, May 3rd, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Lynnfield Common and Meeting House.
