How to Save a Life in 2026

January 27, 2026 by Elizabeth Della Piana

A Healthy Lynnfield is gearing up to host multiple events in its How to Save a Life in 2026: A Lynnfield Community Safety & Preparedness Series.

The events are being supported by the Lynnfield Fire Department, Lynnfield Health Department, Lynnfield Police Department, Lynnfield Public Schools, Lynnfield Recreation Department, and Lynnfield Rotary.

The first event will be a blood drive on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Lynnfield Middle School. It is open to all members of the community. All who donate will receive a T-shirt, and volunteers are welcome.

A Healthy Lynnfield noted that just one donation can save up to three lives.

Next up in the series is Community Safety Skills Training, which will take place on Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon at Lynnfield High School.

There will be hands-on training at five rotating safety stations including Stop the Bleed, AED, CPR Certification, ChokeSaver, and Narcan.

Due to a capacity limit of 30 people, registration is required for the event. A small fee with the American Red Cross will also be needed to obtain certification. An online component also must be completed before the session.

On Feb. 10 from 4 to 6 p.m., students from grades four to five can attend a Home Alone Safety Course at the Lynnfield High School cafeteria while parents and caregivers can attend at the Lynnfield High School Media Center.

Topics will include traveling to and from school and after-school communication, bike safety, phone, internet, and technology safety, calling 911, police response, and answering the door, and fire safety, accidents, and basic first aid.

Registration is also required for this event.

The final event Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a two-day certification course that will run on March 3 and March 5 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Lynnfield Fire Department large conference room.

There, event-goers will learn how to recognize and respond to signs of mental health challenges and substance use concerns in adults.

Registration for this event is required.
