Love black and white movies? Join Library Director and old movie aficionado Abby Porter to watch great movies and learn more about the history of old Hollywood. In October, we’ll be getting spooky, with a new film every Thursday morning. Movie snacks will be provided, but feel free to bring your own favorites!

Stay Safe & Smart Online! Free Digital Media Literacy Class for Seniors
Want to feel more confident using the internet while still staying safe? Join Lily, a local Lynnfield High School senior, for a fun and informative class designed just for senior citizens!
This class will meet four times: October 2nd, 9th, 23rd (6-7:20 PM) and November 1st(2-3:20).You can stop by for one of the classes, or all of them! This class is part of a Girl Scout Gold Award project!
Please fill out this survey for your input on the lessons of this class and an attendance estimate. There is a paper survey located at the library if you would prefer. You could learn how to:
Spot online scams and avoid fraud, create strong, secure passwords, understand the basics of AI, recognize bias in social media, identify fake news and misinformation or, other topics you can specify in the survey!
Whether you’re online daily or just getting started, this class will give you the tools to stay safe and informed in today’s digital world. No tech experience needed — all are welcome!
These classes are primarily for education. If you have specific questions about your devices, sign up to come to Lynnfield High School and be able to ask the Computer Science classes on 10/15 and 10/29 from 10:00-11:00. Sign up through the Senior Center by emailing jbennett@lynnfieldma.gov

Introduction to Birding

The Lynnfield Open Space and Recreation Working Group is sponsoring an introductory birding program on October 11, 2025, at 2:30 PM at the Lynnfield Public Library. Whether you’re a beginning birder or just looking to brush up your skills, you’re invited to attend. Our presentation will be led by local birder Gene Ellison. The presentation is geared towards new birders, and birders of all ages are welcome. Children should be accompanied by a parent.
After the library presentation, we will carpool to a nearby conservation property for an optional field walk, weather permitting. For the field trip, bring binoculars and wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather and terrain.
