Lynnfield’s boys track and field team competed in Saturday’s Henry Sheldon Invitational at Triton Regional High School. The Pioneers scored 58 points, which were good for fifth overall.
Nick Kelter broke a meet record in the triple jump with a leap of 44-4. For his high-flying efforts, Kelter was voted Field Event Athlete of the Meet by participating head coaches.
Eli Mendese secured a first-place finish with a 6-2 high jump.
Days earlier, on Wednesday, May 7, the boys (1-2) lost a close one to Amesbury (81-64), but received some stellar performances. Kelter broke a school record in triple jump with a leap of 44-2, while Mendese was a triple-winner in shot put, javelin, and high jump. Dillon Reilly qualified for states in the 200m, while also being part of the first-place 4×100 relay team.
The boys close out their regular season with Wednesday’s home meet against Ipswich. The meet begins at 4 p.m., but seniors will be honored ahead of time.
