LTTE: Support and reelect Elworthy, Sheehan to School Committee

March 18, 2025 by To the editor

To the editor:

I am writing to express my unwavering support for the re-election of Kristen Elworthy and Jenny Sheehan to the Lynnfield School Committee. I have worked extensively on town initiatives and through the SSS PTO with both candidates. When it comes to strong work ethic, leadership and simply getting the job done, I can’t think of anyone else who I would rather have at the helm of our School Committee.

This past year, Kristen and Jenny have poured their hearts and souls into the thankless volunteer role of Chair and Vice Chair of the Lynnfield School Committee. Because of their tireless efforts and resolute dedication, they have led the charge in improving staff morale, instituting and updating student policies, and, most recently, displaying their superb critical thinking skills during contract negotiations and town-wide budget deficits.

Over their tenure, Kristen and Jenny have made great strides in addressing critical issues within our schools, always prioritizing the best interests of students, teachers, and families. Seeing firsthand from my role on the “Schools Working Group” as part of the Lynnfield Finance Committee,

Kristen and Jenny’s leadership in the budget process has been instrumental in ensuring that resources are allocated effectively, even in the face of financial challenges. They have demonstrated a deep understanding of what it takes to maintain and improve the high standards of Lynnfield education that our community values.

As a communications professional, I also want to commend the candidates’ exceptional communication improvements across the district. Alongside our extraordinary superintendent, I have seen phenomenal information dissemination both to families through frequent districtwide emails and to the community as a whole with a new streamlined social media page which is frequently updated with concise and factual updates for the town to easily understand all that is going on in our school district.

As we navigate these tough financial times, we need experienced and committed leaders who will continue to advocate for our schools and make thoughtful, informed decisions. Kristen Elworthy and Jenny Sheehan have already proven their ability to do just that. I urge my fellow Lynnfield residents to support their re-election and ensure that our schools remain in capable hands. Please join me in voting for Kristen and Jenny for the Lynnfield School Committee on April 8th.

Sincerely,

Sarah Kelley
