Lynnfield Rotary invites community to Build A Bed event

January 27, 2026 by For The Weekly News

Lynnfield Rotary invites you to take part in its fifth annual Build A Bed Community Service Event on Saturday, May 9 at 9 a.m.

Build A Bed is returning to MarketStreet, Lynnfield — and Lynnfield Rotary would love for you to be part of it!

Since 2022, Lynnfield Rotary volunteers have been building beds for children across Massachusetts who otherwise would not have one. What began with just 10 beds has grown every year, and in 2026, Lynnfield Rotary is excited to reach a major milestone: more than 100 beds built for children in need.

Each bed costs $350 and includes a mattress. Once completed, every bed is delivered directly to a child’s home. All materials, tools, and step-by-step guidance are provided, and volunteers work in small teams of up to four. Children are welcome when accompanied by an adult, making this a meaningful and hands-on family service opportunity.

This is a service project, not a fundraiser — every dollar contributed goes directly toward building beds.

How to participate:

  • Sponsor one or more beds and join us at the event to build the frame
  • Prefer not to build? Our volunteers can build a bed in your name
  • Beds are allocated in the order payments are received, so early registration is encouraged
  • Donations are welcome to offset costs of the project

How to donate or sponsor a bed:

Please make checks payable to:
Lynnfield Rotary Charitable Fund
501(c)3 nonprofit [EIN 88-3347265]

Mail checks to:
Lynnfield Rotary – Build A Bed
P.O. Box 216
Lynnfield, MA 01940

Lynnfield Rotary asks that you include your email and cell phone number so they can keep you informed with last minute details.

Lynnfield Rotary encourages you to bring your children and invite friends, family, coworkers, and members of your organization or congregation to help make a lasting difference — one bed at a time.

If you have any questions, contact Ron Block via email at ronblock1@verizon.net.

Together, we can give children the comfort, dignity, and good night’s sleep they deserve.
