Barstow, Glynn, Kouyoumdjian lead the way for LNR

January 6, 2026 by Anne Marie Tobin

The Lynnfield/North Reading wrestling team had a productive week, going 4-2 to improve to 7-2. The Black and Gold closed the week with a win at the Danvers quad-meet. On Dec. 31, they rang in the new year with a 3-0 sweep at the Watertown quad. Nathan Barstow (113 pounds), David Glynn (165) and Jason Kouyoumdjian (120) posted a perfect 6-0 record.

The Black and Gold jumped out to a 23-0 lead, but Foxboro rallied, winning six of the last eight matches to complete a come-from-behind victory.

LNR winners included Zach Inafuku at 106 (1:26), Barstow at 113 (forfeit), Kouyoumdjian at 120 (17-0 technical fall), Jakob Hulett at 126 (forfeit), Glynn at 165 (1:11), and Jack Cuddy at 175 (1:35).

“Foxborough finished fifth in the Division 3 state tournament last year,” said LNR coach Craig Stone. “We were unable to fill the 285-pound weight class, therefore, forfeiting those six points at the end of the match definitely had a bearing on this one with Foxborough leading 40-35.”

The Black and Gold bounced back, winning 11 of 14 matches. LNR winners included Inafuku at 106 (1:13), Barstow at 113 (1:27), Kouyoumdjian at 120 (55 seconds), Hulett at 126 (forfeit), Logan Barstow at 132 (15-4 major decision), Caleb DeSouza at 144 (15-0 technical fall), Luke Molla at 150 (forfeit), Griffin McCarthy at 157 (1:57), Glynn at 165 (1:10), and Cuddy at 175 (forfeit).

While the Black and Gold won just four matches, Stone’s take on the match was positive.

“Arlington is a solid Division 3 program with 35 team members and no holes in its lineup,” he said. “The individual matches were competitive. Arlington just had too much experience in its lineup. Overall, it was a positive day, realizing there is much work to be done, but there are reachable goals ahead.”

Barstow at 113 (1:10), Glynn at 165 (2:35), Kouyoumdjian at 120 (15-0 technical fall) and Inafuku at 106 (10 seconds) were LNR winners.

LNR led 37-29 with two matches to go. Watertown pulled to within two, 37-35, after LNR forfeited the 285-pound match, so it all came down to Zack Morse in the 215-pound match. Morse needed only 2:33 to pin his opponent and clinch the match. LNR winners included Barstow at 113 (21 seconds), Kouyoumdjian at 120 (17-0 technical fall), Jakob Hulett at 126 (11-10 decision), DeSouza at 144 (1:01), Molla at 150 (2:40), Glynn at 165 (1:32) and Cuddy at 175 (2:54).

Morse clinched the match with a first-period pin win at 215 pounds in 1:15. Other LNR winners were Zach Inafuku at 106 (forfeit), Barstow at 113 (40 seconds), Kouyoumdjian at 120 (1:26), Hulett at 126 (14-2 major decision), DeSouza at 144 (2:45), Glynn at 165 (1:15) and Cuddy at 175 (3:43).

The Black and Gold dominated from start to finish to complete a 3-0 sweep and improve to 6-0. Barstow led the way with a 32-second pin win at 113 pounds to cap a perfect three-win/three-pin day. Freshman Lucas Wilkinson picked up his first varsity win with a 1:13 pin at 190. Kouyoumdjian (1:29 at 120), Hulett (forfeit at 126), Glynn (forfeit at 165), Cuddy (forfeit at 175) and Morse (forfeit at 215) also finished 3-0. Other LNR winners were Inafuku at 106 (forfeit), Dylan Harriss at 138 (1:06), and Molla at 150 (3:13).

“No suspense in this one,” Stone said. “It was a great way to end 2025. Everyone got at least one win. Many had multiple. It was also great to get Nate (Barstow) back into the lineup and on the mat after recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.”
