Planning Board Vice Chair and Open Space & Recreation Working Group member Amy MacNulty, along with Rich Kosian, who is also a member of the working group, approached the Select Board Monday night to get an agreement signed for an easement at Violet Circle.
“As you know, one of our goals is to improve public access, resident access, to our conservation areas, and that’s what this does,” MacNulty said.
She added that Kosian has done an “incredible job” identifying this opportunity.
Violet Circle is currently under development, and MacNulty stated that they are working with the owner, who has already signed the agreement.
“We have (the agreement) finalized and ready to go… Our plan is to take it to the Conservation Commission on Tuesday night for their signature,” she said.
Kosian said they’ve identified that this could be the opportunity for access to the conservation land.
“There isn’t a trail there now. This will be for future development, but the future development of a trail could lead through the parcel, through the water district land, into Beaver Dam Brook Reservation, down to the center of town, and also create connectivity for the whole Apple Hill neighborhood into the center of town with off road trails,” Kosian said.
MacNulty also wanted to acknowledge Director of Planning and Conservation Emilie Cademartori, who has kept the project moving over the past year.
After a brief discussion, Select Board Vice Chair Alexis Leahy made a motion for the Board to approve the pedestrian trail easement, subject to approval by the Conservation Commission.
It was a unanimous yes to approve the motion and the agreement was signed by the Board.
