Dear Editor,
I am writing to share a heartwarming community moment that took place two Sundays ago (11/16th): the long awaited return of the Huckleberry Hill School (HHS) PTO’s annual Pancake Breakfast. After a nearly six-year pause due to the COVID pandemic, this cherished tradition made its comeback and it could not have been more successful.
This year’s breakfast featured a delicious spread of pancakes with fresh fruit, chocolate chip toppings, whipped cream, sausage, bacon, juice, milk, and coffee. Families filled the room, sharing warm meals and warmer conversation. One of the most touching sights was seeing grandparents seated beside their grandchildren listening to their excited stories, and savoring the chance to experience a school event that has long been part of the community’s history. Having multiple generations gathered together made the morning especially meaningful.
The event was further enriched by the tremendous community support. Local leaders including the Fire Chief, Police Chief, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and the HHS Principal were present, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. Teachers, parents, and even students from Lynnfield High School generously volunteered to help serve breakfast and assist throughout the morning.
Several groups contributed to the festive spirit as well. The Lynnfield Boy Scouts and SEPAC hosted craft tables, giving children creative activities to enjoy. Junior Artisans offered handmade goods for sale, donating a portion of the proceeds to the HHS annual Walkathon. We were also grateful to Andrea of Mama Llama Photography for volunteering her time to capture beautiful family moments.
The HHS PTO is thrilled to have brought this beloved tradition back to life. It felt like a celebration not only of pancakes, but of community bridging families, friends, educators, and local leaders for a memorable and uplifting experience.
We would be truly grateful if your newspaper would consider writing an article about this event. It was a meaningful moment for so many families, and we would love to share the joy and community spirit it inspired with the wider Lynnfield community. We have photos from the event we can share.
Thank you for your time and for supporting local stories that bring our town together.
Warm regards,
Mai Vo Vaillancourt
HHS PTO
