In a Division 3 Round of 32 matchup, Lauren Mattia scored an unassisted goal in the opener quarter as No. 10 Lynnfield defended home field, 5-2, against No. 23 Old Rochester Saturday morning.
After a quiet second quarter, the Pioneers ripped four goals in the third — courtesy of Izzy Fiorentino, Grace Allen, Sophia Morgese, and Mattia.
“A great day for the Pioneers,” said Lynnfield coach Kerri Doherty, who also credited goalie Bridget McGee, Nola Maney, Allison Sweeney, Chloe Bergeron, and Hayden Valiton for strong performances. “We executed our gameplan effectively.”
Lynnfield visits No. 7 Hanover Tuesday at 4 p.m. Results were too late to print.
