Two struggling high school football teams collided in South Hamilton for Cape Ann League action Friday night. In the end, Lynnfield (2-6) made it a happy Halloween with a 35-14 victory against Hamilton-Wenham (1-7).
Despite the Generals scoring both of their touchdowns in the fourth quarter, they weren’t enough to mount a comeback against the Pioneers, who built a 28-0 cushion after three.
The first quarter ended, 7-0, in favor of Lynnfield after a 59-yard rushing touchdown from Chase Buoniconti. From there, in the second and third quarters, Dan Lemieux caught 7- and 56-yard touchdown passes from Spencer Brown.
Buoniconti put a lid on things when he raced for a 65-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter (35-14). Another highlight of the game was when Lucas Deraps (7 tackles) recovered a fumble and booked it 45 yards to the house.
Brown was 11-for-15 for 130 yards passing and a pair of touchdowns. Buoniconti carried five times for 100 yards rushing and two touchdowns, while Lemieux caught five balls for 85 yards.
