Kaylee Barrett was Lynnfield’s do-it-all player Saturday. The girls soccer team defeated Cape Ann League foe Triton, 7-0, on enemy turf behind Barrett’s hat-trick and assist. The win improved Lynnfield’s record to 8-2.
Also contributing for the Pioneers were Ava Damiani (2 goals, 2 assists), Ella Pascucci (goal), Hannah Ozanian (goal, assist), Giada Antidormi (3 assists), and Bella Sykes (2 assists).
“Giada and Bella were huge for us in the middle of the field today,” said Lynnfield coach Mark Vermont. “Our defense was also very strong.”

Lynnfield earned a decisive Cape Ann League victory in Newburyport.
Ava Damiani (from Giada Antidormi) scored 39 seconds into the first half off a corner kick. Newburyport scored in the 10th minute, but the Pioneers took the lead for good when Bella Sykes potted one in the 67th minute (from Ella Pascucci and Bella Clancy).
“What a game,” said Vermont, who added that Kaylee Barrett played a strong game. “Victoria Minor, in goal for us, came up huge. She had seven saves. Two were on corner kicks and one was a breakaway. The shots she had to stop were goal-scoring opportunities. Defensively, we worked hard and played really well. Having that foundation in the back has been great for us.”

In a “really good team win,” according to Lynnfield coach Brent Munroe, his Pioneers took down Newburyport behind first- and second-half goals from Rocco Scenna.
“I thought our defense played well, especially Ben Clancy,” Munroe said. “I’d also like to point out Brendan Reilly, who set up the second goal pretty late in the game.”

Joe Decesare scored his first goal of the season as the Eagles flew over Shrewsbury. Garrison Murphy dished out the assist, while Matt Droggitis (6 saves) recorded his seventh shutout of the fall.

Continuing his stellar goal-scoring form, Lynnfield’s Rocco Scenna netted three more in the Pioneers’ home win against Triton. Kellen Farias recorded a shutout between the pipes.

The Pioneers earned a Cape Ann League win over Triton 6-0 on the road. Cameron Munion opened the scoring 45 seconds in off a pass from Sophia Morgese.
Morgese then scored off an Izzy Fiorentino assist to double the lead. Munion added her second in the second quarter on a feed from Grace Allen, who later scored herself.
There were also several firsts for Lynnfield. Senior Erin Golden scored her first varsity goal in the third quarter, while Zoe O’Brien registered her first varsity assist. Stefania Bonavita also scored.
Bridget McGee had nine saves in the shutout.
“Commendable play by the Pioneers’ backfield Chloe Bergeron, Nola Maney, Addie Wolf and Hayden Valiton in preserving the shutout against a strong ‘big ball’ Triton team,” Lynnfield coach Kerri Doherty said.

The Eagles dropped their second match of the season in a narrow defeat.
Junior Zach Enners led St. John’s Prep with a 34, followed by Jack Moriarty (37) and Cole Cullen, Jack Carew and AJ Bodnar (38).
CROSS COUNTRY
Lynnfield
Both the boys and girls cross country teams defeated Georgetown. Georgetown only had two runners but Lynnfield still “ran very well” according to head coach Liane Cook said.
Taking first place was Maeve Wertz who finished with a 21:56 time. Sophie Kennison placed second with a 23:00 time. According to Cook, every runner ran a personal best compared to the last time they ran at home back in early September.
On the boys side, the Pioneers won 27-30. Nick DeGennaro’s time of 17:50 was fast enough for first place. Rowan Beyer (18:06) and Jason Tran’s 18:26 was good enough for fourth and fifth to power Lynnfield past Georgetown.

Xaverian 44
The Eagles took care of Xaverian at Powisset Farm last Wednesday. Jack McIntosh (17:07) crossed the 5k course first with teammate Liam Mahoney (17:14) taking third.
The next five finishers were all St. John’s Prep with Henry McDonnell, Hunter Opal, Mateo DeOrio, Liam Callahan, and Oliver Hawes rounding out the top eight.
