The Lynnfield Art Guild (LAG) will present a demonstration by Yvonne Blacker – “Inspired by Flowers: Pressing, Preserving and Botanical Art Making” – Thursday, Sept. 18 from 7-8:30 p.m. via Zoom.
According to LAG, this demonstration is open to all members via an invitation. Membership in the LAG is open to artisans, photographers and artists of all levels, with student, supporting and family memberships available.
The LAG encourages prospective members to join the Guild via its website – LynnfieldArts.org – to “take advantage of this and upcoming special artistic opportunities, including free attendance at all live and virtual demonstrations and the ability to display art, network with other artists and show pieces in our popular exhibits.”
According to LAG, Blacker is a graphic designer and botanical artist who creates nature-inspired works of art for fabrics, wallpapers and print-on-demand products, often featuring florals that she hand-picks from her own backyard gardens.
Blacker’s online shop – DuckPetals.com – showcases her custom collections along with a curated selection of farmhouse themed goods. She teaches both in-person and virtual workshops that focus on encouraging creativity such as floral arranging and creating art with flowers.
Blacker is one of LAG’s co-presidents, alongside Heidi Reynolds, and she is also an active member of the Village Home & Garden Club of Lynnfield, where she coordinates their annual spring Art in Bloom event at the Lynnfield Public Library.
Blacker has lived in Lynnfield for over 20 years with her husband John and their four sons. According to LAG, “Inspired by Flowers: Pressing, Preserving and Botanical Art Making” aligns with one of her goals as co-president: to show what is possible when it comes to creative careers and help inspire creative journeys.
