Lynnfield Public Schools seeks community involvement

September 8, 2025 by Amanda Lurey

This fall, Lynnfield Public Schools (LPS) will embark on a long term strategic planning process. According to Superintendent Tom Geary, LPS will engage with its families and community members as part of this process.

The Lynnfield community has two ways to participate: through an anonymous survey and as a member of the strategic planning working group.

Geary said the strategic plan will ultimately serve as a roadmap for the district over the next five years. He added that it will:

  • Provide clarity around vision and values
  • Define district priorities and initiatives
  • Engage students, families, the community and staff in the process
  • Ultimately result in better preparing Lynnfield students for future success.

The process will be guided by an experienced, independent facilitator who will compile and analyze data that is submitted, Geary said.

Participation is open to both families with students at LPS and the greater Lynnfield community at large.

The first way to participate is to fill out the survey. All feedback is anonymous and, according to Geary, it “will be combined with input from planning groups and district data to ensure that the strategic plan reflects the values and aspirations of the entire Lynnfield community.”

The survey is available on the LPS website – lynnfield.k12.ma.us. – and will be accepting submissions until Sept. 15.

The second way to participate is by volunteering to serve as a member of LPS’ strategic planning working group. Geary said he is looking for participation from representatives from all school levels and the community at large.

All meetings will run from 3:30-6:30 p.m. and will be held at the Lynnfield High School Media Center. Meeting dates for the group are: Sept. 29, Nov. 3 and Jan. 8, 2026.

“If you would like to participate, we are asking you to commit to attending all three meeting dates,” Geary said. “If you cannot attend all three, we request that you do not volunteer so that we can maximize input from all stakeholder group members. If you have not been involved in a volunteer position in our schools or town, we encourage you to apply to ensure the group is well rounded.”

A link to apply can be found on the LPS website.

“We will provide updates on strategic planning progress through the year with a goal of having a final plan in place by the end of the school year,” Geary said.
