Friday, Aug. 22
Alarms
At 5:42 p.m., a burglar alarm was triggered at the science wing of 275 Essex Street. Upon investigation, it was determined to be accidental—set off by members of the football team. Later that evening at 11:30 p.m., a storage motion alarm at 375 North Broadway was also found to be a false alarm. Responding officers discovered it had been set off in the clubhouse.
Directive Patrols
Officers conducted a directive patrol on Yorkshire Drive at 7:06 p.m. The patrol concluded without incident.
Fraud
At 8:56 a.m., a report of fraud was filed from a resident at 82 Oakridge Terrace. An officer responded and provided assistance, with an incident report taken for further follow-up.
Juvenile Offenses
At 8:53 p.m., a concerned resident reported that a group of juveniles had entered his yard on Grove Street while he was away. His girlfriend, who was home at the time, witnessed the group running off toward Harvy Park. Officers responded and learned from a church leader nearby that the juveniles had been spoken to and had since returned to a supervised gathering at the church.
Missing Person
A report of a missing person was logged at 1:01 p.m. from Sylvan Terrace. Officers responded and gathered the necessary information. A report was taken and the situation was being actively monitored.
Motor Vehicles
At 5:04 p.m., a caller reported a motor vehicle accident blocking the roadway on Highland Avenue. By the time officers arrived, the vehicle had already been moved. Officers continued to monitor traffic in the area. Throughout the day, multiple rounds of selective traffic enforcement were conducted on Summer Street, Chestnut Street at Kimberly Terrace, Main Street, and the intersection of Summer and Salem streets. At 7:11 p.m., one driver on Main Street received a verbal warning. The other stops resulted in either department action or services rendered.
Property Checks
At 10:51 p.m., a routine property check was conducted at 275 Essex Street. Officers reported that all appeared in order.
Unwanted Party
At 9:29 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance involving an unwanted party on Maple Street. Two units were dispatched and arrived shortly after. The situation was resolved and a report was taken for documentation.
Saturday, Aug. 23
Accidents
At 10:42 p.m., police and fire units responded to a motor vehicle crash near 347 Essex St. at Pillings Pond Road after a caller reported that a car had struck a tree. The vehicle, a 1967 Pontiac GTO, had significant property damage. The driver was out of the car upon arrival. Officers on scene requested a tow from Gaeta’s, and Engine 1 requested a second ambulance due to the nature of the incident. Atlantic P-4 responded from West Peabody and ultimately transported a patient to Lahey Burlington. A report was filed.
Alarms
At 2:11 p.m., an alarm company reported a motion alarm by the pool area at 425 Walnut St. Officers responded, found an unsecured door by the pool, and conducted a walkthrough of the property. The door was secured and the alarm deemed accidental.
Earlier at 11:30 p.m. the previous night, a burglar alarm was triggered at 375 North Broadway. Responding officers determined the alarm was set off accidentally inside the clubhouse and there was no sign of suspicious activity.
Directives and Area Checks
Officers conducted several proactive patrols throughout the day. A directive patrol was logged at 425 Walnut St. at 10:42 a.m. and a property check was conducted at 584 Main St. at 12:22 a.m. The latter required no action.
Lockouts
At 6:07 p.m., a resident at 11 Walnut St. accidentally locked herself out of her home and requested assistance. Officers responded along with Engine 1, and services were rendered to assist the resident in gaining access.
Motor Vehicles
Throughout the day, officers conducted several motor vehicle stops resulting in verbal warnings. At 12:59 p.m., a white 2013 Ford Explorer was pulled over at 483 Chestnut St. at Tophet Road for a motor vehicle violation. Later in the afternoon, at 4:13 p.m., a white 2020 Honda Pilot was stopped on Salem Street, followed by a stop at 4:37 p.m. involving a gray 2018 Hyundai Accent at 780 Main St. Just over 20 minutes later, at 4:59 p.m., officers issued a verbal warning to the operator of a green 2022 Subaru Ascent near 1156 Main St. At 5:39 p.m., a white 2021 Ram 1500 was pulled over at 1287 Main St., and finally, at 10:02 p.m., officers stopped a white 2014 Infiniti QX50 near 1100 Main St. at Lowell Street. In addition to these stops, officers engaged in multiple directed patrols and selective traffic enforcement throughout the day at 505 Main St., Summer Street, and Nottingham Road. These patrols were conducted to maintain traffic safety and visibility in key areas, with no violations noted during several of the checks.
Notifications
At 3:08 p.m., Reading Police requested Lynnfield officers make contact with a male party at 846 Lynnfield St. to notify him that he needed to retrieve trash dumped in the Fuddruckers parking lot. Officers spoke with the man, who agreed to reach out to Reading PD. At 4:07 p.m., officers attempted to deliver a notification at Midland Road, but the message or summons could not be delivered.
Sunday, Aug. 24
Disturbances
At 5:54 p.m., a caller reported a disturbance involving a man and a woman arguing near a silver SUV at the intersection of Salem Street and Locust Street. Officers responded to the scene but were unable to locate anyone matching the description upon arrival.
Motor Vehicles
At 10:50 a.m., an officer conducted selective traffic enforcement near 1287 Main Street and issued a verbal warning to the operator of a black 2022 Honda Pilot. At 1:16 p.m., police responded to a report of a motor vehicle violation at 500 Chestnut Street. A black 2021 Cadillac Escalade was stopped, and the operator was issued a verbal warning. At 6:58 p.m., officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle violation near 670 Salem Street at Ross Drive. A report was taken following the incident, and additional units assisted with the investigation.
Officer Investigations
At 6:55 p.m., an officer was requested at a residence on Pillings Pond Road.
Property Checks
At 1:22 p.m., a routine property check was conducted on Wildewood Drive, with officers reporting everything appeared in order. At 10:30 p.m., officers performed another property check at 525 Salem Street and found no suspicious activity.
Monday, Aug. 25
Dumping Complaints
A resident came into the station at 1:05 p.m. to report illegal dumping on Bourque Road. Officers took down the information and began investigating the complaint.
Motor Vehicles
At 6:58 p.m., police received a complaint about a motor vehicle at the intersection of Salem Street and Ross Drive. Officers from Cars 1, 8, and 24 responded and documented the incident in a report. A minor accident was reported at 7:06 a.m. in the parking lot of 8 South Broadway involving a 2021 white Ford Bronco and a 2022 white Ford F250. Responding officers determined that the vehicles sustained only minor damage, and a paper exchange was facilitated on scene. At 11:13 a.m., a gray 2017 Toyota Prius was stopped at 926 Main Street for a motor vehicle violation. The operator was issued a verbal warning. At 9:42 a.m., a blue 2009 Honda Odyssey was pulled over at 1287 Main Street and given a verbal warning. Additional selective traffic enforcement occurred throughout the day. Departmental action was taken at 12:48 a.m. on Salem Street, 8:48 a.m. at the intersection of 380 Salem Street and Ramsdell Way, and again at 6:56 p.m. on Main Street. Officers also monitored traffic at Summer Street between 11:51 a.m. and 12:52 p.m., and at 164 Walnut Street and Thomas Road around 7:09 p.m. A traffic citation was issued at 9:43 p.m. at 511 Walnut Street and 199 Salem Street, involving a 2022 black Nissan Altima.
Officer Wanted
At 6:55 p.m., an officer was requested at 265 Pillings Pond Road. Officers arrived shortly after and took a report. Later that night at 8:27 p.m., officers were called to Banana Republic at MarketStreet for assistance. They remained on scene for nearly 30 minutes before clearing.
Other Incidents
At 10:48 a.m., an officer conducted a follow-up visit to Everett Bank on Salem Street and completed the task without incident. Around 11 a.m., a directive patrol was carried out at 425 Walnut Street. Officers remained in the area until approximately 11:15 a.m. At 9:08 p.m., a lift assist was requested on Main Street. A resident had called for help getting her husband up after a fall. Officers and EMS assisted, though no further medical service was required.
Tuesday, Aug. 26
Disturbances
At 5:54 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 954 Salem Street at Locust Street for a reported disturbance. A caller reported seeing a man and woman arguing near a silver SUV. Units responded and searched the area, but the individuals were gone on arrival.
Dumping Complaints
At 1:05 p.m., a party arrived at the police station to report illegal dumping on Bourque Road. Officers logged the complaint and initiated an investigation into the incident .
Officer Assistance
Police were requested at Banana Republic on Market Street around 8:27 p.m. for an officer assist call. Officers rendered services and cleared the scene without further incident.
Property Checks
Officers conducted routine property checks overnight at several locations on Salem Street. All properties were found to be secure and in good order.
Selective Traffic Enforcement
Numerous selective traffic enforcement patrols were conducted throughout the day and night on Salem Street, Main Street, Summer Street, Walnut Street, and Sagamore Golf Course, resulting in several warnings and citations being issued.
Suspicious Activity
At 6:09 p.m., a 911 open-line call came in from 850 Market Street. Officers responded to the area but determined there was no issue after checking the premises and finding all was in order.
Motor Vehicles
At 12:30 a.m., officers began their traffic enforcement efforts along Salem Street, monitoring for violations. Additional selective enforcement was conducted later in the morning and throughout the day on Main Street, Summer Street, Walnut Street, and at Sagamore Golf Course. At 1:48 a.m., officers responded to 1040 Main Street for a large fallen tree partially obstructing the road; they moved it to the sidewalk and contacted the Department of Public Works for removal. A minor motor vehicle crash occurred at 7:06 a.m. in the parking lot at 8 South Broadway. Officers facilitated an exchange of information between drivers, with no injuries or significant damage reported. At 9:42 a.m., a blue Honda Odyssey was stopped on Main Street and given a verbal warning for a traffic violation. A few minutes later, at 11:12 a.m., a gray Toyota Prius was pulled over in the same area and was also issued a verbal warning. The final traffic stop of the day came at 9:43 p.m., when a black 2022 Nissan Altima was stopped at 511 Walnut Street and issued a citation for a traffic infraction.
Wednesday, Aug. 27
Alarms
At 5:09 a.m., a burglar alarm was reported at 353 North Broadway. Officers discovered the parts department door had been left unsecured. They checked the area, noting that the door led to a section of the building blocked off from the rest. The door was secured, and everything appeared in order. Later that night at 10:43 p.m., a fire alarm sounded at 470 Main Street. The resident informed dispatch there was no smoke or fire visible but said she had been having persistent issues with her alarms over the past two months. She mentioned an electrician had recently replaced some units. Engine 1 responded, and the alarm was determined to be accidental due to a defect.
Motor Vehicles
At 5:16 p.m., a caller reported that vehicles were blocking an intersection despite clear road markings and signs instructing drivers not to do so. Officers responded and monitored the area. At 6:42 p.m., a patrol unit conducted selective traffic enforcement on Main Street. Additional traffic enforcement took place at 7:39 p.m. at the intersection of 150 Walnut Street and Gerry Road. At 9:07 p.m., officers performed traffic enforcement at 380 Salem Street near Ramsdell Way, resulting in a verbal warning issued to the driver of a white 2021 Toyota RAV4. A white 2019 Honda Civic was also involved in the stop. In the early hours of the next day, at 12:42 a.m., an officer conducted selective enforcement on Salem Street but determined no service was needed. A similar check was made at 1:05 a.m. on Summer Street, where services were rendered. Another unit conducted enforcement on Main Street at 1:07 a.m. and cleared the area by 2:15 a.m. with no action required.
