A campaign to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding around dementia is underway at the Lynnfield Public Library.
The Library is hosting a Dementia Friends information session Tuesday, Sept. 2 and is looking for local people to join in learning about dementia and helping people who are living with it in our community. The session will be led by Library Director and Dementia Champion Abby Porter.
Dementia Friends is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way we think, talk and act about the disease. The Dementia Friends session helps you learn about dementia and the small ways you can help. From telling friends about the program to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.
The one-hour session will take place at the Lynnfield Public Library at 18 Summer St. at 5 p.m.
Over 130,000 people in Massachusetts age 65 and older are living with dementia. Learn how to help your friends and neighbors, plus some tips to keep your brain healthy! Please register in advance by visiting lynnfieldlibrary.org or by calling 781-334-5411. Space is limited.
