Lynnfielders take on Lynn Woods

July 29, 2025 by Joey Barrett

LYNN — The most recent edition of the Lynn Woods Running Series featured cool temperatures – a pleasant 75-degree day during this hot summer – and 160 finishers.

Billerica’s Liam Fay (13:21), 9, was the first boy to finish the 1.59-mile kids’ race. He was followed by Lynnfield 6-year-old Parker Beal (14:11) and Salem 8-year-old Leo Cornelio (15:03).

Lynn’s Aver Macario, 11, wasn’t just the first girl to finish, but placed second overall in 14:04. She was followed by Lynnfield 11-year-old Brielle Hunter (16:09) and 9-year-old Julia Hutter (17:51).

The youngest competitor was 3-year-old Lincoln Xaltipa, of Lynn, who clocked in at 25:33.

The short race of the day was the ever-so-popular 2.2-mile “Goat Path” race. Martin Bures (15:06), of Medford, took a break from running long races and earned the win.

Placing second was Lynnfield’s Joel Beal (15:58), followed by Lynn’s Perry Raymond (16:15).

The first four women to finish were teenagers or younger: Manchester 15-year-old Giulia Bussone (18:50), Swampscott 18-year-old Anna Metaxatos (19:27), Lynn 12-year-old Jennifer Matul (19:52), and Lynn 11-year-old Evely Perez (19:55).

The “I hate the DAM Run” race was an out-and-back, 6.2 mile course. Nevertheless, 46 runners accepted the challenge.

Lynn’s Rafael Villatoro racked up another victory with a time of 40:09. He was followed by Peabody’s Tommy Fogarty (45:17).

The next three male finishers were all from Lynn: Brady Ryan (45:30) and two 16-year-olds Liban Abdikadir (47:17) and Robert Tewksbury (47:31).

The first woman to finish – and placing second overall – was Woburn’s Jessica Snyder (42:09).
