Cool Off and Connect: Summer Fun at the Lynnfield Senior Center

July 22, 2025 by Sophia Harris

The Lynnfield Senior Center is inviting community members to beat the heat this summer and explore its wide variety of programs, services, and events designed to inform, entertain, and support older adults.

From film screenings to trivia competitions, health screenings to shopping, the center continues to be a vibrant hub for local seniors.

One upcoming feature event is a screening of A Tale of Two Sisters, a compelling documentary that delves into the complex relationship between Jackie Kennedy Onassis and her lesser-known sister, Lee. The film explores the intertwined lives of the famous siblings, highlighting themes of rivalry, love, and loss. The screening will take place Wednesday, July 30 at 12:15 p.m. Participants are asked to sign up in advance with Lisa.

Trivia lovers can test their pop culture knowledge during “Trivia With Lisa: Movie Villains!” on Monday, August 4 at 12:30 p.m. Attendees will try to name the actors behind some of Hollywood’s most notorious on-screen antagonists. As always, advance sign-up is encouraged.

For those who enjoy treasure hunting, the Friends Thrift Boutique offers an ever-changing selection of unique items. Operated by the Friends of the Lynnfield Senior Center, the shop is open weekdays from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Donations are welcome and all proceeds help support senior programs.

In addition to social events, the center prioritizes health and wellness. Nurse Karen Cronin, from the Lynnfield Health Department, visits on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 9:30-10:30 a.m. She provides free blood pressure screenings and guidance on prescriptions and other health-related topics. Blood sugar testing is also available on the first Wednesday of each month — no appointment necessary.

“Whether you’re looking for fun, connection, or support, the Lynnfield Senior Center has something to offer,” a staff member noted. “We welcome everyone to stop in and see what we’re all about.”

For more information or to sign up for programs, call the center at 781-598-1078.
