Up-and-down weekend for All-Star 10s

July 1, 2025 by Joey Barrett

Lynnfield’s 10-year-old All-Star team lost to Wyoma in the District 16 tournament Friday night, but battled back two days later with a big-time win against Swampscott.

Next up for Lynnfield is Tuesday evening’s showdown against Peabody West beginning at 5:30 p.m. Results were too late to print.

Despite a 2-0 loss to Wyoma, there were plenty of positives for Lynnfield, which outhit the opposition, 4-2, to kick off the weekend. The entire game took 74 minutes in a pitchers’ duel.

Wyoma plated two runs in the first inning – ultimately, the difference.

Matty Shields had two hits for Lynnfield, while Korbin O’Blenes pitched all five innings and recorded five strikeouts to go with only two hits allowed.

Lynnfield left two men on base in the fourth inning and bases loaded in the fifth.

All that said, good teams respond.

Then came a dominant 14-3 win against Swampscott, as Lynnfield scored six runs in the opening inning to put the pressure on.

Bruno Palumbo had three hits and scored two runs. Shields continued his hot-hitting stretch with two hits, two runs, and two RBI. Brendan McMahon sparked the offense with one hit, two runs, and aggressive baserunning.

Max Polansky (6 K, 3 ER) and Bryce Paton (two shutout innings) tossed two innings apiece, as Lynnfield took care of Swampscott in just four innings.

Bryce Pagos, Bryce Paton, and Max Polansky all chipped in hits and RBI.
