Assistant Mechanic
The Assistant Mechanic, working independently or with others, under the supervision of the Operations Superintendent, maintains, overhauls, repairs, replaces and adjusts engines, pumps, machinery and equipment primarily for the Public Works Department but also for other Town Departments. As needed, the position will also work with other crews in the Department in daily and emergency operations, including snow plowing and sanding. In cases of snow and ice storms or other declared emergencies, this individual will be required to report to work and to work on an overtime basis as needed. This is a skilled position performing repair and maintenance to a wide variety of mechanical equipment. The work includes routine repair, preventive maintenance, and emergency breakdown repair, all of which involves responsibility for making swift, efficient, and workmanlike repairs. Work is usually performed with a minimum of supervision and is checked upon completion through observing performance of machinery and mechanical equipment. The work requires a considerable number of mechanical skills, resourcefulness, aptitude and a considerable knowledge of various types of mechanical equipment and frequent review and consultation with written and online equipment manuals, diagnostic software or verbal consultations with manufacturer service technicians. Work assignments are received from the supervisor orally or in writing. The Assistant Mechanic conducts his own defect diagnosis and makes his own decisions as to causes of malfunction or defects and determines the most appropriate and cost-efficient means to be used to effect repairs.

Town Engineer
The Public Works Department is a service-driven department that operates in an extremely fast-paced environment and responds to numerous inquiries on a wide range of subject matters daily. This position requires an energetic, technical, proactive professional and knowledgeable person to balance and prioritize situations. Must work independently and be responsible for ensuring that responsibilities of the job are done accurately. This position reports directly to the Director of Public Works; confers daily with the Director and other DPW managers to confirm department goals and objectives and obtain insight and technical engineering direction, to discuss work schedules, personnel assignments, engineering support for activities and general financial and administrative direction. The position provides oversight of all engineering functions within the Public Works Department, including the daily planning, scheduling, permits, contracts and vendors. Provides technical support, consultation and inspections for the Department of Planning & Conservation and the Zoning Board in all zoning, conservation and planning needs including all those associated with new construction and developments. Responsible for ensuring operations meet all technical, service goals and all department standards and requirements, including financial, quality, safety, procurement and environmental. This individual shall be capable of employing educational and professional experience to effectively define and resolve a wide scope of issues of varying complexity in the design, construction, repair, maintenance, and operation of the municipal infrastructure; provide engineering design, construction management and construction inspection of municipal projects; administer projects, procure contracts, and grant programs, provide technical advice to the various divisions of the Department, as well as other departments of Town.

Assistant Conservation Planner
Assistant Conservation Planner The Town of Lynnfield seeks a full-time, benefitted Assistant Conservation Planner, reporting directly to the Director of Planning & Conservation. This position offers a work environment that favors independent effort, exciting project initiatives and collaboration with accomplished colleagues. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing inspectional field support including site visits, maintenance of related documentation and databases, and assistance with review of applications under the Wetlands Protection Act, Lynnfield Wetlands Protection Bylaw, Subdivisions and Lynnfield Tree Preservation Bylaw.
The position also includes routine monitoring of Town-owned open spaces, and staff cooperation with the very active Open Space & Recreation Working Group, currently working on exciting local trails development projects. Senior Center Director
The Town of Lynnfield seeks candidates for the position of Senior Center Director.
The Director works under the direction of the Town Administrator and Council on Aging Board of Directors. It is a full-time salaried position. Night and weekend work is occasionally required.
The Senior Center Director is responsible for the administration of the Senior Center and for all the planning and implementation of social, recreational, educational, and therapeutic programming for the senior citizens of Lynnfield. The director also serves as the Outreach Worker
The individual must be dedicated to the improvement of the lives of senior citizens through direct services and advocacy; a team-orientated, energetic problem solver with outstanding communication skills with demonstrated leadership ability.
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred with 3-5 years of experience in municipal, state or federal government. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong public service skills are required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is required and MUNIS accounting software knowledge is a plus. Current & valid Massachusetts driver’s license with a responsible driving record

Town Clerk
The Town of Lynnfield seeks candidates for the position of Town Clerk.
The Town Clerk works under the direction of the Town Administrator, and supervises and oversees the functions of the Town Clerk’s office. The Town Clerk serves as custodian of all Town records, Chief Elections Officer, Chief Public Records Officer, and maintains and ensures compliance with all applicable local, state and federal statutes.
A Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred. Two or more years of municipal town clerk or assistant town clerk experience preferred, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified MA Municipal Clerk certification required, or completed within three years of employment.
Successful candidate should have thorough knowledge of state and local laws governing elections, licensing, vital statistics, public records and related laws governing Town Clerk’s Office. Candidate should have excellent organizational, verbal and written communications; ability to maintain effective working relationships with the public, Town officials, and other Town employees; knowledge of MS Word, Excel, with expectation of acquiring knowledge of the State Voter Registry Information System and the Vitals Information Partnership System.
