Lynnfield Forward urges “Yes” vote on override

May 13, 2025 by For The Weekly News

Lynnfield faces an important decision on June 4 in a special town election: whether to pass an override that will restore funding for the school system, library and senior center. Without this crucial $4.65M override, Lynnfield’s schools, library and senior center will face drastic cuts to the services they offer residents.

Lynnfield residents have formed “Lynnfield Forward,” an official ballot question campaign committee, to encourage Lynnfield to pass the override.

Lynnfield Forward encourages all residents to vote “Yes” on the override on June 4. You can vote at Lynnfield High School from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can also vote early in person at the Town Clerk’s office from May 24 to May 30, or apply for an absentee ballot with the town clerk.

Many crucial services that impact thousands of residents will be cut if the override ballot question does not pass:.

  • Lynnfield’s commitment to educational excellence at risk: Class sizes will increase to over 30 in many grades, interventionists will be cut and support staff will be drastically reduced without the override. AP classes and electives, which help make Lynnfield students competitive for college, will be reduced and cut. If the override fails, Lynnfield’s reputation as a top educational district will take a massive hit that could take a generation to recover.
  • Lynnfield Public Library will lose services: The library will lose services as it budget is cut, meaning no more NOBLE inter-library loans and reduced hours and services.
  • Lynnfield Senior Center services and hours will be cut: A 50% reduction in budget means reduced staff and support, and fewer programs, for Lynnfield’s senior citizens.

With this in mind, Lynnfield Forward aims to educate residents about the importance of the override and raise awareness for residents to vote at the ballot box on June 4.

How You Can Help:

Lynnfield Forward is currently collecting donations for campaign materials such as signage and mailings. You can donate by sending a Venmo to @LynnfieldForward or by mailing checks to the attention of: Brian Lambert, 7 Huntingdon Road, Lynnfield, MA 01940. Lynnfield Forward is an official registered ballot question committee.

The organization is also looking for homes to host signs reminding residents to vote “Yes” for our schools, library and senior center on June 4. You can request a sign by visiting facebook.com/lynnfieldforward or by emailing lynnfieldforward@gmail.com.
