Lynnfield Art Guild presents Deborah Quinan

May 13, 2025 by For The Weekly News

The Lynnfield Art Guild (Lynnfield Arts) is proud to announce that local artist and abstract painter Deborah Quinan is its featured artist for the months of May and June on the Lynnfield Arts home page and at lynnfieldarts.org/Deborah Quinan. There, you can read about her background and view photographs of her artwork.

“My artistic journey began post-retirement, about 20 months after my husband passed away. I had always had the desire to be creative but never pursued an artistic path; I never thought I was capable of doing so,” Quinan said. “The discovery of the artist within me has been a great source of hope and joy in this new phase of my life, and I am so grateful for the love and support I have received.

“I paint loosely from intuition, finding joy in the discovery of layers of color coming together to form a cohesive whole. I enjoy the freedom to explore paints, color and composition without having to worry about incorporating objects in the painting; and if I do, abstraction gives me permission to render those objects in a new and unique way. I never know where a painting will end up when I start it, and this constant joy of discovery is an integral part of who I am as an artist. My paintings are highly abstract, which allows each painting to become the viewer’s own, as they will see a painting in a way that makes it uniquely theirs.”

Quinan exhibits in greater Boston and on the North Shore, including The Art Gallery (TAG), an artists’ cooperative that is part of the New England Art Center) in Boston, and at locations in Newburyport, on Cape Ann, and in greater Lynnfield. She has studied painting in Topsfield, at Slow River Studio and at The Art Room, and through numerous online and in-person workshops.

“I have sought advice and encouragement from several artists and gallerists who have been very generous with their time and support, and I have been mentored by Maria Malatesta, of Rockport,” she said.

The artist’s website is deborahquinan.com. She can be reached at: dquinanart@gmail.com.

The Lynnfield Art Guild (Lynnfield Arts) is a community of local visual artists who reside in Lynnfield and surrounding communities outside Boston on Massachusetts’ North Shore. The group is dedicated to the creation, sharing, and perfection of fine arts by inspiring new and established artist members of all ages. The Guild is proud to showcase Quinan’s abstract paintings and invites the public to visit this gallery on its website www.lynnfieldarts.org. and lynnfieldarts.org/Deborah Quinan.
