Three wins in three games

May 6, 2025 by Joey Barrett

Lynnfield’s baseball team rolled over the competition this past week, taking down Newburyport, Triton, and Ipswich by a combined 16 runs.

Luke DiSilvio was the do-it-all Pioneer in a 12-0 win against Newburyport Saturday. He tossed a complete-game shutout that came with just two hits and no walks alongside 11 strikeouts. DiSilvio helped his own cause with two hits and an RBI.

“It was a nice win,” said Lynnfield Coach John O’Brien. “He pitched fabulously and only threw 82 pitches.”

The offensive load was led by Charlie Morgan (2 H, 3 R, 3 SB), who “played a great game at center field,” according to O’Brien, and Nick Groussis (2 RBI).

Lynnfield pitcher Madux Iovinelli (7 IP, 2 H, 12 K) “was the difference,” according to O’Brien, in a 3-1 win against Triton earlier in the week. Offensive contributors were Walter Radulski (2 H, R), Jimmy Pasquale (2 H, RBI), and Sam Bird (RBI).

“It was a terrific game by Madux and he threw very well,” O’Brien said. “Twelve strikeouts and two hits… he was around the strike zone all day.”

And in a 6-4 win against Ipswich, pitcher Joe Wozniak tossed “four very strong innings and picked up the win,” as said by O’Brien.

“We let all three of those (losing) games slip away by a run, but we put the ball in play today and the pitching was pretty good to go with some good defense,” O’Brien said.

Leading the way were Tyler Adamo (3-for-4), DiSilvio (3 H, 2 RBI), and Radulski (2 RBI), who closed out the game with a save.

“I think over the last three games, he’s (Adamo) had about 10 hits – easy,” O’Brien said.

Groussis “did a fabulous job” behind the plate, according to O’Brien, while Iovinelli made some impressive plays from center field.
