Lynnfield Middle School will host the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild’s Middle School Drama Festival on Saturday, May 3. The school’s entry, ‘Sonder,’ an original play by eighth graders Nora Hutter and CC Ragalevsky, inspired by Greek mythology, kicks off the festival at 9 a.m.
The following is a schedule of the schools that will be competing and their productions:
9 a.m. Lynnfield Middle School ‘Sonder’
10 a.m. F.A Day Middle School ‘The Shadow Stories: A Cursed Play’
11 a.m. Thurgood Marshall Middle ‘Rapunzel Uncut’
1 p.m. Cambridge Street Upper School ‘Myths at the Edge of the World’
2 p.m. Breed Middle School ‘Everyone Gets Eaten by Sharks’
3 p.m. Rockport Middle School ‘The Waiting Room’
The festival promises to foster connections among young performers. Participation in the annual one-day drama festival provides students with the unique opportunity to share their work with other member schools. Professional adjudicators evaluate students’ work and present awards for both acting and technical excellence.
