ROUNDUP: Goal-scoring barrage from lacrosse teams

Lynnfield’s boys and girls lacrosse teams put on a scoring clinic Monday evening. Each team scored 18 goals en route to victories over Triton.

The boys’ team won, 18-6, in its matchup. Lynnfield’s Mike Murphy led the way with seven goals and one assist. Owen Considine (8 assists) and Johnny Powers netted hat tricks in the win. Owen Doherty chipped in four goals and an assist while Kelan Cardinal set up five goals and Angelo Covino registered an assist.

Ben Pimentel made five saves and Tyler Maddocks recorded seven face-off wins.

On the girls’ side, the Pioneers had a lot to celebrate in their 18-0 win over Triton. Sophomore Hayden Valiton (4 goals, 2 assists) scored her 100th career goal.

Taylor Valiton finished with five goals and three assists. Ava Damiani scored a brace and had four assists.

Jordan Calichman, Hannah Ozanian, Maeve Wertz, Maura Flaws, Clara Caulfield, Ereeny Georges, and Rori Caprio all scored one goal, while Lily White provided an assist.

The fans at Pioneer Stadium had plenty to cheer about, with Lynnfield (2-1, 1-0 Cape Ann League) exploding offensively to make it two wins in as many days. Murphy led the way with five goals, followed by Paul Daley’s four.

Also contributing were Doherty (3 goals), Cardinal (2 goals, 5 assists), Powers (2 goals, 2 assists), Brendan Driscoll (goal, 7 ground balls), Covino (goal), Brayden Anderson (goal), and Pimentel (7 saves).

TRACK AND FIELD

The St. John’s Prep track and field team began its spring 2-0 with home wins against BC High (95-41) and Catholic Memorial (105-36) Saturday morning. Nine Eagles won their events.

First-place finishers were Lincoln Massaro (110m hurdles), Andrew McManmon (200m), Caden Rogovich (400m), Noah Kabel (400m hurdles), Daniel Padley (800m), Henry McDonnell (mile), Andrew Bertucci (high jump), Kye McClory (javelin), and Gael Garcia (shot put).
