BOSTON — An undermanned Lynnfield swimming and diving squad closed out the winter season with a 36th-place finish in the MIAA Winter Boys State Championship Meet at Boston University. Wayland outdistanced the field, winning the team title with 296 points. Weston (243) and Mystic Valley Charter (180) finished second and third, respectively.
Sophomore James Cook was the Pioneers’ top individual performer. He finished 15th in the 100 backstroke (57.66) and 17th in the 200 freestyle (1:52.18). Cook, freshman Malcolm Kelton, junior Nick DeGennaro, and senior Marc Gagne finished 14th in the 200 medley relay (1:47.43).
Kelton, Gagne, sophomore Brendan Koleszar, and senior Hudson Little finished 17th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:38.59). Gagne, DeGennaro, Koleszar, and Little finished 22nd in the 400 freestyle relay (3:47.28).
DeGennaro finished 21st in the 100 butterfly (57.32), while Kelton finished 23rd in the 50 free (23.05) and 25th in the 100 free (51.53).
