To the editor:
I lived and worked through the disaster of the superintendent Vogel era. I experienced firsthand what bad leadership looked like and personally endured how it negatively impacted everyone, especially our students. Like many others in our community, I was appalled by the mismanagement, bullying, and inefficiency that created a culture of distrust and stress, making our jobs untenable.
Since hiring a new superintendent and with the new school committee members, things have changed for the better. Tom Geary is focused on student achievement and a positive school culture. The new committee members, Jenny Sheehan and Kristen Elworthy, have worked hard in a short time to turn things around and make positive impacts. They have clearly demonstrated what needs to be done to bring the focus back on the success of our students.
As a parent of three Lynnfield School alums and a grandparent of a future Lynnfield student, I have a renewed confidence in our school leadership. Under Tom’s leadership and direction, improvements have happened at a lightning pace. With thoughtful, effective leaders on the new School Committee, the future looks bright for our schools and students. You can’t find anyone more trustworthy and devoted to Lynnfield than Tom Geary!
