With Alex Fleming (21 points, 15 rebounds), Madux Iovinelli (12 points, 10 rebounds), and Iain McCarthy (10 points) leading the charge, the visiting Lynnfield Pioneers jumped to 3-0 with a double-digit victory (58-47) against North Reading Friday night.

Six goals typically win you a hockey game. Add tight defense and a hot goaltender, and it’ll do the trick. Lynnfield’s boys hockey team defeated Gloucester, 6-2, at McVann-O’Keefe Rink on Wednesday.
Owen Considine led the noontime matinee with a hat-trick, while goalie Michael Marenghi stood strong with 30 saves against 32 shots. The defense did its job as well with 18 blocked shots.
Also contributing were Nick Kelter (2 goals), Lucas Deraps (goal, assist), and Andrew Carbone (2 assists). Seven Pioneers compiled points.
