Lynnfield’s girls track team kicked off its season with a 66.5-33.5 rout of Manchester-Essex Saturday at The Track at New Balance in Boston.
“There were a lot of great performances from many individuals on the team,” said coach Bill Wallace.
The Pioneers won eight events, led by Abby Lopez who won the 2-mile in 13:09 and qualified for states. She also placed second in the mile in 5:57.10 and qualified for states.
Emma Greenleaf won the 55 hurdles in 10.25 and Hannah O’Zanian won the 300 in 46.09. Elliana Moretti won the shot put with a heave of 26-1 and senior captain Clara Caulfield won the high jump with a leap of 4-6. Allison Maddocks won the long jump with a leap of 14-2.
The Pioneers won two relays. Caulfield, senior captain Lily Rocco, Greenleaf, and Ozanian won the 4×200 in 1:58.24 and Lauren Mattia, Sophia Morgese, senior captain Caitlin Buoniconti, and Aislin McCormack won the 4×400 in 4:47.21.
Lynnfield’s next meet is Tuesday, Jan. 7 against Hamilton-Wenham at The Track at New Balance beginning at 5 p.m.
