MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA — Lynnfield quarterback Tyler Adamo was a man on a mission Friday night. With three passing touchdowns and another with his legs, Adamo led the Pioneers to a 28-6 win against Manchester-Essex.
The victory upped Lynnfield’s record to 6-1. As of Tuesday morning’s MIAA power rankings, the Pioneers rank No. 4 in Division 6 behind Hudson, Stoneham, and Fairhaven, respectively.
Truth be told, the offense party started early in this one. Adamo plunged a rushing touchdown home from 1 yard out to put Lynnfield on top, 7-0, before Massimo LoGrasso’s extra point. Speaking of LoGrasso, he was a perfect 4-for-4 with his point-after attempts.
Fast forward to the second quarter. Adamo (12-for-19, 230 yards) spotted George Lambros for a 30-yard touchdown. It was more of the same in the third quarter, when Madux Iovinelli hauled in an 8-yard TD catch from Adamo to make it 21-0 in favor of the visitors.
Then, the big play. Adamo spotted Luke DiSilvio for a 51-yard touchdown through the air. Zach Hurd ran one in for Manchester-Essex in the fourth, but it wasn’t nearly enough to mount a comeback.
Leading Lynnfield’s charge were Iovinelli (6 receptions, 93 yards), DiSilvio (91 yards), and Iain McCarthy (6 tackles) on the defensive end.
Lynnfield returns to action Friday when it hosts Hamilton-Wenham. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium.
