LTTE: Purchase a Veterans Memorial paver

October 15, 2024 by To The Editor

To the editor:

Become a part of the permanent landscape at Lynnfield’s new Veterans Memorial on South Common Street. For only $250, you can purchase a paver in honor of anyone who has served. Our walkways inlaid with pavers will serve as a space of reflection and honor providing an environment where veterans, families, and the general public can reflect, remember and enjoy the enduring spirit of the United States military.

The intention and symbolism of the walkways: The two walkways are the ‘Arms” that support the Oval and the Wall. The arms refer to the family members of veterans and the community. The Oval and the Wall are the sanctuary area. That is why the pavers on the oval are so much larger compared to the pavers on the walkways. This was by design. It is a clear distinction. Service members do not go to war as individuals or a service branch. We go as a nation, state, and a town, like Lynnfield. Without the support of the people of this country and its communities, we would not be as successful as veterans – without question. The community deserves to be recognized as well. There are so many examples of other veterans’ memorials that show this. This is why we want those who support veterans to be recognized as well. If you are a family that supports veterans – far and beyond – you should be recognized and should consider purchasing a walkway paver.

Pavers will serve as a memorial commemorating your service or the service of a friend or loved one. Those pavers will serve as a permanent reminder to visitors of the service and sacrifice of the veterans who have shaped our nation. Whether the veteran lived in Lynnfield during the time in which he/she served, or their next generation lives here now, you can buy a paver.

The Town of Lynnfield reserves the right to reject any inscription it deems unsuitable. Also, the location of pavers and the scheduling of placement will be determined by the Town of Lynnfield. To purchase and inscribe a paver, click on the link on the Town of Lynnfield home page. Fill in the information required, which includes up to three lines of type, with a maximum of fifteen characters per line. All proceeds will be used to maintain the Veterans Memorial in the future. Thank you for your support.
