Emma Rose scored twice and the Pioneers’ girls soccer team cruised by Ipswich, 4-0, Thursday (Sept. 26) evening. Clara Caulfield (goal, 2 assists) and Bella Sykes (goal, assist) helped lead the charge.
“Defensively, we played well in wet conditions,” said Lynnfield coach Mark Vermont. “Ariana Guarracino and Jordan Calichman were really solid in the back. Also, our goalie, Victoria Minor, played well and managed the game well.”

Ipswich 1
Good teams play well late in games, and the defending champions have been there before. The Pioneers trailed at halftime, but Rocco Scenna (Joel Anthony assist) and Matt Reinold took care of things in the second half. Reinold’s game-winner came from Nate Zelvan.
“They’re experienced, skilled, and finish their chances,” Lynnfield coach Brent Munroe said of Scenna and Reinold. “We were down, 1-0, at the half and scored two in the second, which was good… Kelan (Cardinal) didn’t face a lot of shots today, but made a really great save off a deflection at the end.”
Lynnfield 2
Pentucket 0
It was a quiet Tuesday – at least, for one half on Sept. 24.
Lynnfield netted two in the bottom half to escape Pentucket with a victory. The first came from Scenna off a feed from Anthony, while Reinold put the game away with an unassisted strike.
“The defense was pretty good and Kelan made a couple of good saves,” Munroe said. “It was a hard-fought game coming off a back-to-back.”

Jeff Quigley led Prep’s ground game with 15 carries for 112 yards and Pierson Scala took charge of the aerial attack with a 59-yard reception.
Talk about a versatile offensive attack – seven Eagles caught passes Saturday afternoon.
