The Select Board signed and approved the Intermunicipal Agreement for Public Health Excellence for Shared Services at its meeting Monday.
Shared Services Coordinator for the Middlesex-Essex Public Health Collaborative Annette Garcia said the collaborative was formed in January 2023 “for a grant-funded public health collaborative that aims to enhance public health services” for the six communities it serves.
The six communities are Andover, Haverhill, Lynnfield, North Andover, North Reading and Reading.
“We really work to establish regional resource sharing. We share equipment. We have shared staff that helps fulfill the core functions of what a local public health department does,” Garcia said.
There are no financial burdens for signing the agreement because the program is fully grant-funded, she said. The agreement has just entered its first year of a three-year contract.
The board unanimously approved signing the agreement.
