Another meet, another school record

May 28, 2024 by Anne Marie Tobin

The annual MIAA state divisional championship meets were conducted Friday and Saturday at various locations.

Lynnfield’s girls and boys track teams competed in the Division 5 meet at Bridgewater State University’s Swenson Athletic Complex. The boys finished eighth with 29 points. Weston won with 89.5 points. The girls finished 30th with three points. North Reading won with 94 points.

The boys 4×100 relay team of Joey Cucciniello, Jesse Dorman, Dilllon Reilly and Zahir Mitchell set yet another school record (44.25), breaking their previous record of 44.45.

“It was a great day for them and the entire Lynnfield track program,” head coach Bill Wallace said.

Mitchell was the top individual performer for the boys’ team, scoring 12 points.

“That’s an incredible accomplishment for a sophomore,” Wallace said.

Mitchell finished fourth in the long jump (21’3″), seventh in the 100m (11.46) and anchored the 4x100m relay team that finished fourth.

Eli Mendese scored eight points with a second-place finish in the high jump with a personal best 6-02. He also finished 10th in the long jump (20-00.75) and 12th in the triple jump (40-00).
