Plenty of Pioneers’ PRs at championship meet

The Lynnfield boys track team tallied 75 points and placed sixth at the annual Cape Ann League Outdoor Track Championship held at North Reading High Friday afternoon. The Pioneers continue to impress with several PRs and top-3 finishes.

Eli Mendese won the high jump (6-0) and placed sixth in the long jump (19-07.5) and (40-06). 

Quinn Hardisty was runner-up in the javelin (140-06) and Nick Kelter was second in the triple jump (42-07). Zahir Mitchell set a PR in the 100 (11.21) and placed fourth and also finished third in the long jump (21-01). Ethan Francis and Jesse Dorman also placed in two events. Francis finished second in the high jump (5-10) and finished seventh in the triple jump with a PR 39-07. Dorman set two PRs; he finished seventh in the 100 (11.66) and 200 (23.84). 

Ryan DeBenedictis placed fourth in the pole vault (10-0). Dillon Reilly set a PR  19-09 in the long jump and placed fifth. Joey Cucciniello finished fifth in the triple jump (40-06), Jared Bernabei placed sixth in the discus (124-02) and Srivanth Tudi set a PR 10:44.60 and finished seventh in the 2-mile.

Other top-10 finishers included Reilly, ninth in the 200 (24.14) and Cucciniello, 10th in the long jump (18-08.25).

The girls team tallied 26 points and finished ninth. Abby Lopez posted the top performance with a runner-up finish and PR 95-09 in the javelin. Shaelyn Moore finished third in the pole vault (8-00). Emilie Bell finished fourth in the discus with a PR 102-00 and also PR’d in the shot put (27-05). Allison Maddocks finished fifth in the triple jump with a PR 32-00.5. Audrey Manning also PR’d in the event, finishing 10th (30-07), and also set a PR 4-06 in the high jump and finished 10th.

Other Pioneers in the top-10 included Viola Wertz, sixth in the 2-mile (SR 13-00.71; Chase Carangelo, ninth in the high jump (4-06); Emma Greenleaf, ninth in the 100 hurdles (PR 14.34); Lauten Mattia, ninth in the 800 (PR 2:40); Gabriella Bottaro, ninth in the mile (5:58.24) and Elliana Moretti, 10th in the shot put (PR 27-05.5).

The following athletes set PRs: Sophie Kennison (29.60) and Ava Freni (29.29) in the 200, Freni in the 100 (14.08), Lopez in the 800 (2:49.19), Emyrs Klee in the javelin (67-08), Kennison in the high jump (4-04) and Melissa Caprio in the long jump (14-00).

The Pioneers are back on the track at the Division 5 Championship meet Friday and Sunday at Bridgewater State University.
