Micah, a Black cocker spaniel owned by resident Joy E. Stevens, won the Sporting Group at the 148th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, recently held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.
GCHG CH Rejoices To The Point is Micah’s official name, and he was handled by Per Ingar Rismyhr. According to the American Kennel Club, the breeds included in the Sporting Group are: Retrievers, Spaniels, Pointers, and Setters.
Resident, fan and an
avid watcher of the annual competition, Stephanie Slate, said that it’s a “very big deal” to win the Sporting Group, and praised Stevens knowing how much work it takes to breed
a quality dog that wins the Sporting Group.
“And she’s doing this as an incredible mother on top of that,” Slate said, who does not personally know Stevens, but is friends with Stevens’ neighbor. “Not only is she a successful breeder, but she’s an incredible mother taking care of a 50-year old child with handicaps.”
