The 2024 James Rosatto Walk on Water will be at June 8 at Revere Beach

May 14, 2024 by For The Weekly News

In collaboration with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the 3rd Annual James Rosatto Walk on Water will take place this year on Revere Beach June 8 2024 at 9:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m. start time.

The walk is in held in memory of, long time Lynnfield resident, James Rosatto who sadly passed away from undetected liver cancer in early 2022. It is for this reason his family has pledged to make a difference raising funds supporting early detection studies of liver and other gastrointestinal cancers such as pancreatic, stomach and colorectal.

James was extremely health conscious, and walked the 5 mile Revere Beach stretch – rain or shine daily.

“I feel my dad was healthy enough to fight this cancer if it was only caught earlier” Rosatto’s daughter, Stacy VanPutten said. “I now walk in his honor with my friends and family to support the work of Dr. Abrams at Dana-Farber. The studies include the world’s largest liver cancer prevention study which presents opportunities for a better understanding of who is at greatest risk for developing liver cancer, why and the best ways to screen for it in the future.”

Some patients and families are waiting for the next medical breakthrough. Philanthropy plays a large part. In a statement, local sponsor of the walk, Matt Thompson said, “I am a cancer survivor, I’m here because of research. I will soon celebrate 27 years cancer free and it’s important for me to be able to help, to give back, especially to Dana-Farber, where I received treatment.”

The family is thankful to everyone supporting the important work at DFCI in memory of James.

With proceeds benefitting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, in loving memory of James Rosatto, register to walk and donate at this link or the QR code below. https://danafarber.jimmyfund.org/site/TR?fr_id=2210&pg=team&team_id=28064

“I am so grateful to all who have supported my fundraiser in the past,” VanPutten said. “This cause is important to me and my family. On May 22, in honor of Giving Day, I am reaching out to ask you to join me in making a gift to take advantage of the triple matching gift opportunity. I invite you to join me in making a gift of any size. Gifts made May 22 will be triple-matched thanks to a Dana-Farber Trustee.”

Anyone who makes a gift of $50 or more to the fundraising page on Giving Day, May 22, by 11:59 p.m. will receive a Jimmy Fund hat (while supplies last).
