Isabella George, Class of 2027 from Lynnfield, was among several Regis students who embarked on a service immersion trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica during their Spring Break to volunteer for the Mustard Seed Community.
George volunteered at Blessed Assurance, a nonprofit organization that offers lifelong residential care to children with disabilities. Each day, George volunteered by participating in services such as painting and spending time with the residents. When Regis students were not participating in service, they explored the rich culture Montego Bay has to offer.
Service immersion trips continue to be a foundation of Regis’ mission, culture, and community. As a university that provides students the opportunity to serve the dear neighbor without distinction, Regis offers many service opportunities throughout the year, both domestically and internationally.
“We are so thankful to the Mustard Seed Community for providing our students with such hands-on learning experience,” said Lunisse Antoine, undergraduate advising coordinator who accompanied students on this trip. “Here at Regis, we take pride in providing students with endless opportunities to positively impact the world.”
Blessed Assurance is located on a five-acre property in the Windsor Lodge area, serving the communities in north-western Jamaica. It houses 32 residents with plans to expand the limit to 75. Blessed Assurance is one of eleven locations in the Jamaican Mustard Seed Community.
