Former Lynnfield High softball standout Chloe Shapleigh is off to a red-hot start on the Endicott College softball team, earning Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week honors Tuesday afternoon
The Gulls improved to 9-2 on March 30 with two wins against visiting Curry. In Game 1, a 2-1 walk-off, Shapleigh (1-for-1, 3 runs, RBI) scored both of the Gulls’ runs, the first on a solo homer to center field in the third inning, and second in the bottom of the seventh when she drew a two-out walk and scored on teammate Caitlyn Romero’s double.
In Game 2, an 11-4 win, Shapleigh hit another homer, went 2-for-3 with two RBI, scored a run, and registered a walk. Shapleigh leads the Gulls in home runs (55), batting average (.472), slugging percentage (1.028), on-base percentage (.512), at-bats (36), hits (17), and RBI (19).
