To the editor:
I am running for reelection for Select Board and I need your vote. I am a 30-year Army veteran, with four combat deployments. When I was going to retire, I wanted to raise my young children in the best town possible. That is why my wife and I chose Lynnfield. My son is a senior at Lynnfield High School, and my daughter is a Lynnfield graduate and a sophomore at UMass Amherst. My children are Lynnfield Public Schools success stories and I want that for all students. I will be indebted for life for the education my children received. When moving to Lynnfield, I made a commitment, to give back to the town as much as possible, because of the support I received when deployed. This is what veterans do, and always will. I believe I have done that and want to continue this service and do more! This is why I ask for your vote to serve on the Select Board for three more years. There are many important projects underway that the Select Board has started and want to finish: Public Safety Building, Veterans Memorial, Rail Trail, and Library Renovation Project. I am the exact person you want to see these projects finished under, a person with my experience and knowledge. Being a Lynnfield resident since 2012, I have given my time and commitment to the following: chair of the Lynnfield Select Board, board member of the Lynnfield Elementary Classroom Expansion Project, chair of the Lynnfield New Veterans Memorial Committee, chair of the Lynnfield Strategic Planning Committee, board member of Lynnfield Youth Lacrosse, board member of the New Public Safety Building Committee, board member of the Lynnfield Rail Trail Project, board member of the New Lynnfield Cemetery Committee, Town Emergency Management Core Team (meets monthly, as needed), former assistant coach of Boys Youth Lacrosse, former coach of Girls Youth Soccer (practices and games), committee member for the selection of the new High School principal, and chair of the Lynnfield 250th Celebration. I want to continue serving the citizens of Lynnfield.
Lynnfield voters are extremely intelligent and take voting very seriously. You do not vote from the sleeve or emotion, but knowing the candidates and what they stand for, and what documented goals they are running on. When voters look at a candidate, they also look at leadership, experience, commitment, strategic planning, community involvement, accomplishments, and how they can further better Lynnfield. It is clear that I possess those skills and is why you should choose me, and not my opponent on April 9, at the town election to serve on your Select Board for another three years and to continue to serve you at the highest level. Thank you for your vote, and looking forward to seeing you on election day. I will make you proud that you chose me for Select Board. During this time, you need an experienced leader who has my commitment and accomplishments I have shown you over the last three years, representing all the citizens of Lynnfield. My goals for the next three years:
- Continue to represent all ages in our community.
- Maintain a balanced budget and keep our AA+ bond rating (an absolute must for Lynnfield).
- Ensure our school administration is providing a top-notch education for our students.
- See the construction of our public safety buildings project through to fruition.
- Get the Rail Trail through the state requirements.
- Keep the remarkable partnership with all committees and boards
I also made a “Meet the Candidates” video that was videotaped at our media center, and will be played on the local Channel 8, starting on April 1, 24/7 up to the elections. It is five minutes long. Please watch it, and let people be aware of that. You will see who I am, why I am running for reelection, and my goals for the next three years for the town of Lynnfield’s Select Board.
